Description:

PK ČR was established on 12 July 1995 as Potravinářské sdružení ČR (Food Chamber of the Czech Republic). Subsequently, on 7 August 2000, its name was changed to Potravinářská komora ČR (PK ČR), Federation of the Food and Drink Industries of the Czech Republic (FFDI). In 2002, implemented under Food Act No. 110/97 Coll., as amended, as the representative of the food industries. PK ČR represents interests of its members, which are business entities and professional associations of the Czech food industries and related fields in regard to Czech state administration, other organizations and institutions and bodies and organizations of the European Union. PK ČR is a service organization with a high level of competency in all areas pertaining to the interests of its members, which are primarily food legislation, commercial and industrial policy and its financing, the environment and EU matters.

PK ČR provides complete service for the food industries and professional associations, which includes: advisory activity; information regarding the EU common market; assisting domestic producers in dealing with practical problems such as labelling food products, food safety, hygiene, codices of best production and hygienic practices, IPPC, HACCP, ISO, searching for supporting programmes, assistance in preparing and obtaining national and EU financial support, active assistance in preparing and drafting projects, analyses and evaluation of the needs of the food industries, definition of necessary investments in the food industries, benchmarking in regard to the markets of the EU25 countries, as well as sector and impact analyses.

PK ČR, as stated above, represents, on the basis of Act No. 110/97 Coll., the Food Act, interests of all entities of the Czech food industries regardless of the fact of whether they are its members or not, especially in regard to Czech state administration, other organizations and institutions and bodies and organizations of the European Union. In addition to this statutory role, it also provides further service and the defence of the interests of its members, who are business entities and professional associations of the Czech food industries, other entities whose activity directly relates to the food sector, research institutes and schools, laboratories and accredited companies and entities in directly related fields with the exception of entities active in agricultural primary production and retail sale.

On March 20, 2006, PK ČR set up The Czech Technology Platform for Foodstuffs (Czech acronym ČTP), on the basis of the statutes of the Czech Food Chamber as its organizational section. Czech Technology Platform for Foodstuffs was established in accordance with the initiative of the European Commission from 16th June, 2004 concerning the creation of technological platforms. The Czech Technology Platform for Foodstuffs is a separate entity, subject to the internal rules of the Food Chamber of the Czech Republic. More information is available at www.ctpp.cz.
